Varios Artistas - Hooligans United: A Tribute To Rancid (2015)

Poco se puede decir de Rancid salvo que si eres seguidor de la movida punk y no los conoces mejor deberías de cambiar de género musical. Para una banda que ha servido de influencia para infinidad de otras bandas creo que ya era justo y necesario que se les hiciera un tributo y vaya que los de Smelvis Records tiraron la casa por la ventana, ya que no solo incluyó bandas reconocidas de la movida punk/ska y géneros hermanos, sino que fueron cuatro las bandas mexicanas invitadas. 51 versiones que van desde la cumbia de El Gran Silencio, pasando por el ska-punk de Big D And The Kid Table, llegando al pyschobilly de Mad Sin. La única tarea difícil es determinar que versión es igual de buena a la original y cuales ni de chiste debieron aparecer.

“STOMP is Big D's SKA/Punk release filled with a mix of Operation Ivy, The Specials, and The Suicide Machines-esque style and of course Big D’s signature sound. “‘STROLL’ is the record named after the style of music Big D created. It can be described as a blend of hopscotch /double-dutch schoolyard rhymes with a mix of Soul and Dub. It’s what a Tarentino movie would sound like in song form-- Big D’s experimental outlet. Songs like ‘Young Suckers’ sounds as if The Commitments and The Refused had a love child; while the gruesome song ‘Knife’ tells the tale of escaping a cantina in Mexico with the help of a trusted knife. ‘STROLL’ is filled with some of Big D’s new classics like ‘Main Squeeze’ and ‘Just An Idea’. The Doped Up Dollies (Big D’s back up singers) are back again singing stylistically from hopscotch rhymes to traditional reggae and tunes not unlike The Crystals like ‘What I Got’; the Dollies’ first solo song. ‘STROLL’ is an expansion of Big D that is a creative sound that pushes stylist boundaries.
